The t-shirt is one hell of a way to promote something, anything from religion to
politics, from love to hate, from life be in it to abortion, sport, music and
bands, TV and film, anti war and anti drugs.

T-shirt Goes Fishing
No other form of advertising can get to places where the mighty tee can. Think
of the most remote place you desire for a well earned break. No news papers, no
radio or television.
Wow! No advertising. Don’t you believe it. Someone somewhere
is bound to have a t-shirt advertising something. It may be in your luggage.
Take fishermen, they go to the extreme to find that special spot, the spot that
only they know about. But when they arrive there is some bloke fishing from
their ‘rock’.
But what’s more this bloke is wearing a shimano t-shirt.
Now think about that from a marketing view point. Talk about
taking the ad to the user and it is also possible that he paid for the t-shirt
as well, so what a win for shimano. Could only be done with the humble tee.

Promotional t-shirts will take in a whole new meaning when OLED (organic
light-emitting diode) is introduced to fashion. OLED or Low energy, high
definition colouring technology when integrated with fashion will allow digital
images to be wirelessly transmitted to your t-shirt with just a click. Once this
technology is refined for fashion, the combinations are thought provoking.
Fashion aside. What is the future for t-shirts? Using OLED it is not difficult
to imagine the time when there will be paid per banner t-shirts. Before you
leave for the ball game you let your ad company know your destination and they
click on an ad for McDonalds. Going fishing and they click on an ad for shimano.
Got the picture? Your body becomes advertising space for which
you get paid.
Big Future for
the Promotional T-shirt
So the more famous you are the more money you get paid. Sound a little far
fetched? It’s not! PC Magazine reports research from MIT’s Media Lab was
positive when they trialled it on messenger bags. Just a simple test to begin
with but the possibilities for the promotional t-shirt are endless.
