Global Hypercolour Stinks and Sinks.
The 1990's t-shirt and the short lived popularity of the
hypercolour will soon die.
And the t-shirt heads in all directions. Tighter, sleeveless
muscle t-shirts and t-shirts with a ‘worn’ appearance become popular. Hip
hop and rap band branding are influential but not so much as in the 2000's.
Urban gear is introduced and popular.
Belly T-shirt for Women
And back came the belly shirt but this time for women. Ah much better! And often
much shorter than the male version to boot.
The men’s version of the belly t-shirt is still seen
occasionally but mostly in gay fashion.
Other names for the belly shirt are crop top, short shirt,
cut-off shirt, half shirt. Another popular style is the cuttie, a 1990's t-shirt
that has had the sleeves removed.
Fifteen Years for a T-shirt
The first of hundreds of people accused of collaborating with Iraqi occupation
forces are put on trial in Kuwait may 20, 1991. One man, whose only publicly
disclosed offence was wearing a political
t-shirt with Saddam Hussein’s picture on it was imprisoned for 15 years.
Poor bugger, the t-shirt won’t even last that long.
The T-shirt Cannon
The t-shirt cannon launches the mighty tee into the stands.
Animal images become popular commencing with Budweiser frogs.
The frogs struck an almost immediate chord with consumers when introduced in a
Super Bowl commercial. The most important jump for the frogs - or should I say
Budweiser - was straight on to a t-shirt.
And of course the
